QUOTE(Harlequin @ May 28 2008, 09:46 PM) *

If it is basically the same deity....does it matter which prophet?

I heard on the radio at dinnertime today that this topic -converting- is causing real problems. People are asking which theology is best, this "lets convert the muslims" could seriously backfire.
The Church of England isn't exactly the most devout religion.

That is a good question and I will reply:

Muslims do not believe that Jesus is divine and worthy of worship. Christians believe He is divine and worthy of worship. Muslims believe He is only a prophet and nothing more. At the end of the day there is truth and there is error. Two opposing "truths" cannot be true.

Jesus is the only and exclusive way to Heaven, the followers of Islam are not going to Heaven because they do not accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.

Heaven, if you dont follow Jesus you cannot go to heaven?

I recommend you read the Divine Comedy, since there is a point of a PAGAN being in heaven. Basically he was fervent to his deity and so he was rewarded with heaven. As long as you follow your god then you can get in heaven.

They all say the same thing "Worship OUR way or you cannot go to heaven, only we are rightous" .

And since they cannot all be different and right at the same time, I figure it's a load of hot air.

And anyway, haven't the 20,000 that are supposed to go to heaven already been chosen..or are already there. I'm sure there's something about only a certain number destined for this imaginary place.

Islam, Christian, Judeaism...whatever, it's the same meme in different wrapping. Bring back Wotan,

they are not ALL saing it.
jews don't say that,
and other religions also.

the distortions made by catolicism don't apply to ALL religions.

I have to admit you did generalise quite badly, I mean, in christianity it said that jesus died for our sins and that any sin we make is forgiven (excluding suicide of course) as long as we follow in the footsteps of that religion. It says that if we do that we have access to heaven, that is not a limit.

The main difference between the two (Muslim and Christianity)as far as i can see is that the Quaran recommends killing members of other faiths, although i don't know if that is true, i am going on other peoples say so, as i have never read the Quaran.

If this is true then the Muslims can keep their Religion, they are welcome to it.

Has anyone here read the Quran? I think i remember zoro saying he had, but ime not sure. ?????

It doesn't say at all, "For our sins". Pretty general...

I think Rach would of got mixed up with the fact the Old Testament (which some of which is used in the Quran i think) is Jewish.

I'll let you search for exactly which sin Jesus is supposedly crucified for until tomorrow evening.

That is unless some brave soul points it out beforehand.

this depand on which trail you are talking about - since he was found guilty by both.

the jews sentanced him to death by stoning since he incited jews to relinquish their faith (false prophet, incitement to blasphemy and idolatry).
such sentances require that he will make the incitement when the judges can hear - and that was the exact nature of Judas betrail.

he was found guilty - but the jewish court were not granted permission to stone him, so he was moved to Roman custody (which was fobidden unless he was found guilty in the first court).

the romans sentanced him on attempt of revoult, and since he confirmed that he claimed to be king of the jews - he was found guilty.

so the sins causing crucifiction were: incitement to blasphemy & idolatry, attempt to revolt

Those were not "sins" those were laws he broke. and nothing to do with him "dying so our sins can be forgiven".
