BBC2 has come up trumps with Broken News. This comedy takes the form of 24 hour news channels, and chops and changes between them, as if you were flicking through cable channels or something. Tonight's episode was mostly around one Big Breaking News Story - about a possible hijacking. It satirised the speculation, hysteria and pointless comment from people on the ground perfectly. In the end, it turned out that the man attempting to get into the cockpit turned out to be the pilot - the door had been stuck.
Generally, the series should be bottled and preserved. It's a rare work of genius.

Is this what you mean? I've seen the adverts for it but never paid them much attention, but having read up on this little satire (and your prompt) I just might have to give it a look.
