His Dark Materials is a fantastic series of books - it should be interesting to see how they do the film

I've been hearing of this series of books for ages, but have never gotten around to reading any, something I will have to remedy.

I thought it would have been almost impossible to film, due to the presence of everyone's personal daemon. Might be confusing on screen, esp. Lyra's, which changes shape all the time
I just hope it dosnt turn out like those H Potter films

I read somewhere a while ago now that Nicole Kidman was a possibility for playing Mrs. Coulter. Can't remember who they were considering for Lord Asriel. I think I'd prefer it with unknown actors and actresses though.
I'm another one who can't imagine how they'd film these books. I'm sure no film could do them justice - even with the divine Ms. Kidman! But then I'm biased because these are 3 of my favourite books.
Really interesting to see how they'd create the daemons - some sort of computer graphics I guess. I'd definitely go and watch it out of curiosity more than anything.
There's also been a play of it somewhere I think.
These are books that I always wish I hadn't read yet so I'd be able to get the same pleasure I got the first time I read them. Absolutely superb! I love them so much - the first one especially. Last one was my least favourite though I have to admit.

Did you follow me to this thread just to sulk some more?
If you're referring to my post in the Harry Potter thread all I can say is that somebody else had already revealed the ending to another of the books in the series. Therefore I assumed there was nothing wrong with mentioning endings since someone else had already done just that. Furthermore I saw nothing that said "don't talk about the plot lines and endings of a book until the film has been made and everyone on this forum has had the opportunity to watch it." That's just bloody stupid. What say someone joins the discussion who's only seen the first film? Are you then also going to tell people off if they dare to mention anything about any of the subsequent books?
Don't take it so personally. Put up a post telling people not to mention endings until you've seen the film if you feel so strongly.
Why go to a thread entitled "Harry Potter" if you're going to object about someone talking about Harry Potter? I associate Harry Potter with the books not the films. The thread I responded to was in the books forums. Why go to a book forum if you only want to discuss the film?
Anyway. This thread's about not about HP. It's about Philip Pullman's trilogy.

You american. because from the posts youve made here, you arrogant enough to be one. I was allways under the impression it's common desency not to spoil things for other people by telling the ending.
As for following you here, nah, if i wanted to have a go at you, i would of joined my rasist mate FBG in the serious thread and had a go there.
As for this thread not being about HP, i never mentioned it, you did.
