I went a few weeks ago and it cost me £40.
My regular dentist, who i havent been to in years, couldnt see me til late in the afternoon, and i was in agony with one wisdom tooth so i phoned around everywhere for someone who could see me straight away and i found someone. Apparently for them its a flat fee of £40 for consultation. I assume thats for patients and non patients.
Still, its pretty high if you ask me.
Mind you, i'm having all 4 wisdom teeth out in October and thats all done for free. But why the hell i have to wait 4 months for that i do not know

Aug 30 2006, 11:13 AM

Thats not good at all

When i went, they filled the hole temporarily and gave me anti bios for the abcess but the stuff in the hole has come out now, so i'm preparing to have to go back soon when the pain starts again
What i dont get is that when i turned 18, the dentist who all the family have always gone to, starting treating me as a private patient. I had no choice about staying NHS or not
ice
Aug 30 2006, 11:37 AM
now that is not fair, as he was treating you on the nhs you should of been allowed to stay nhs,
i just want a dentist who is willing to see the kids on the nhs, but we are willing to go private if thats what we have to do to get seen
rozza
Aug 30 2006, 02:35 PM
my old dentist chucked me off the list when he decided to go private, ive found a new nhs one now but i have to say is young and doesnt seem to be that experienced, i hate going to the dentist although me and the kids go every 6 months, i just cringe when i go, everything hurts

i was stupid enough to use a bleaching agent from e-bay on my teeth, now ive got super sensitive teeth which are aching all the time, apparently this stuff damages the enamel so im always in pain

and dont laugh easy
Scorpio
Aug 30 2006, 04:54 PM
Aww rozza i wanted to do that and the dentist said it wasnt a good idea. Not trying to rub it in mind

I just loved it when he told me i should have white fillings instead of the usual ones cos they look better. Never mentioned that they're double the price of course. And anyway, who the hell is gonna see the damn things right at the back of my mouth?!

I disagree with dental fees. Once upon a time necessary dental care at our dentist surgery was free on the NHS. Then it was decided seemingly that teeth are not part of the human body though yet dental problems and infections can cause serious illness if left untreated. I never noticed any reduction in my tax bill, now there is no dentist in our town who will treat you unless you take out dental insurance of £14.99 per month.
That is my rant done, I have a toothche, a little heartache too.
