Who here has trouble with this? And if so how do you get around it?

I dont, bloody hate taking pills. Lots of water with them for me

I'm better than i used to be but i cant take the big ones that are often herbal tablets. If i can break them in half, i will. And if i have to have the big capsule ones with powder inside sometimes i try to wetten it a bit in water to make it softer and easier to slide down

I hate it when they get stuck in me throat. Castrol GTX doesnt work either!

do you know what..my daughter cant take pills at all and i get really mad with her, i always thought she was being a wimp. shes 12 and if she has to have medication she has it in liquid form, until i saw this thread i didnt know there was a real problem with this

I always thought it was just me too, but i think this is why you can get some tablets in liquid form. My parents used to think i was having a fit when i was throwing my head back so much trying to get it down

I think that there is a knack that has to be learnt to taking pills. I used to have to use a lot of water to take paracetamol, etc., until I was about 18. Then I had to take a course of antibiotics for a while, and during that time 'learnt' how to swallow pills: I can know happily swallow anything pill-like without any water at all.

Oh! I have take a big load of water with it, shake my head about a bit so I know its not going to stick to anywhere in my mouth (thats happened before), and also to shake it to the back of my throat, take a deep breath then swallow. Allow yourself to make a really funny face afterwards too.

I find that if i can feel it in my mouth, on my tongue or back of the throat then i just cant get it down. Thats why i throw my head back repeatedly til i cant feel it. But i always do the funny face after, Elixir..

Yep, try the head shaking thing. Then you are in control of where its floating in your mouth.
Its a knack though.

Its the only thing that helps me do it.

i love watching all the head shaking and threwing your head back and two glasses of water bit, trying not to laugh

i have watched so many folks do this, and then you have folks like me pill, mouth, swallow water who needs it

no seriously it is a problem for a lot of folks you can either do it or not, i think the mind holds the keys as i bet all of you can swallow your sweets

well i showed my daugher this thread and she was jumping around the room saying i told you i cant do it, so i guess i'll have to eat a bit of humble pie....with no pills in it

i can swallow the bullet shaped ones but the round ones i cant do unles they are really small.

It's understandably strange to swallow a solid substance without chewing; it can seem against natural reflexes (not to mention, against table manners). There are, however, liquid, powder, and even suppository forms of medications, herbs, and other healers; a chat with a pharmacist might be the best way to help the medicine go down.

I think it's one of the easiest things one can do . Just put the pills into your mouth and turn it (mouth) up, and drink some liquid (water, coffee, tea and etc) holding your mouth up, and you'll see the pills slide down your throat very easily and get to your stomach very soon. Of course, it's more pleasant to swallow pills with sweet shells than bitter ones.

I used to hate swallowing pills, but now i dont think. It also helps with eating those greens...
