This year I have volunteered to cook Christmas dinner. I can cook stuff like curries, stews and chillis with my hands behind my back but roast dinners are a bit more of a challenge.

I'm going to do the traditional fayre (turkey, brussells, pigs in blankets etc )

The question is .........does this in any way compromise my masculinty? Shouldn't I be down the pub while my wife puts all the hard work in. Surely it's a mans right to sit back, relax in the comfy chair with a glass of mulled wine in one hand and the remote control in the other and wait for dinner to be served.

The only job I should do on Christmas day is to carve the meat (just to make sure I get lots of luvverly breast)

That's it, I've talked myself out of it. I'll do the cold meat platter on boxing day instead. It's far easier

I did the christmas dinner a couple of years back. I invited the whole family around and set the time for 2 oclock. At about noon, the mrs came into the kitchen only to find that nowt was cooking and i was still busy doing some flashy piped mash potatoes with a tomatoe and onion filling. All the guest were ordered into the kitchen to peel sprouts and carrots and help prepare the starters. Was nearly a major disaster, if it wasn't for ice stapping in to save the day wub.gif

Still, the potatoes were the best thing about the meal, even if they took twice as long to cook as the rest of the meal put together. laughing.gif

I see myself as a sort of Norfolk Gordon Ramsay. When I'm cooking I just don't stop swearing.

Oh fuck, bollocks, shit it's burnt

Uhh... Andrew, don't you think it would be a bit dried out by Christmas?
Now if Lisa cooked it it wouldn't matter. It would be dry from the time it left the stove. blowdry.gif
