In RE (or Religious Studies) the teacher asked if anyone was a active christian... have a guess HOW MANY people put their hand up. ONE and who wa that, it was me.

Right ranting bit...

This kid (C*****n) asked if protestant are the ones who are circumsised...

Seriously

Which shows the state of religion in our schools.

Rant 2

People in my form also think that it is IMPOSSIBLE to be British and a Muslim.

Firstly, i cant blame them for their opinions. Secondly, i can blame their parents opinions.

Why should Mus;lims be alienated as such? i think the answer is jealousness.

The Immigrants (which some are muslims) are able to be fiancially secure within two years.

I think that was quite an astounding discussion that developed in your class. Astounding because there are so many people living in Britain that are Muslim. Did the teacher try and add any sort of balance to that discussion?

I've heard it said that Muslims consider themselves Muslims first, then occupants of any nation. Their allegiance is to their faith, not the country they happen to be in. Some say this is the reason for so much friction in the UK. The Muslims attitude puts it slap in the way of Patriotism.

I'm sure the moderate Muslims will call me a liar, but they aren't the ones causing problems.

As regards R.E. in state schools?....this is supposed to be a secular society, there's supposed to be a good argument that religion of any kind does not belong in state schools. But since most say a prayer and a hymn at morning assembly (or did)...I'll not try to argue the hypocrisy.

im ranting about the knowledge of religion. not the teaching.

I do anyway.

Its weird, i know about religions that we arent taught about (Shinto, Ba'hai and Babullah, i think they are the right spellings). I get annoyed when people complain about other religions when most or all of them dont even have a religon. Im like WTFYFW.

On a lighter note, we are hopefully doing about muslim food (halal meat and that). so im gonna Research it biggrin.gif

I know quite a bit about Vodou, which btw is the national religion of Haiti.

I have a good friend who is Haitian and she's a Vodouisant.

Vodou and its Cuban variant Santeria have big followings in NYC.

There are many stores called Botanicas that sell Santeria and Vodou religious "items."

Ok, so maybe I have been checking out Vodun - the original form from Africa. I think the form that makes me uncomfortable is the New Orleans Voodoo.
